Sugar and Spice

How To Style:
  1. After blow drying your hair (make sure to protect it with a heat spray!), use your flat iron to smooth strands and add shine.
  2. Add a light mist of hairspray to keep things in place but still allow for movement.
Recommended Products:
Try Pureology’s Pure Volume Thickening Mist for more body and shine while also protecting your new color.
Best Face Shape and Hair Type:
Oval, round, long, heart and square shaped faces can wear this style. Hair that is medium to thick in density with not too much natural texture will work best, unless you’re ready to commit a lot of time and product to your style.
Tip:
To make the flat ironing process smoother, spend a couple of extra minutes blow drying with a flat paddle brush from the roots to ends instead of just blowing your hair all around. It’s better for your hair and lets you keep more natural volume!

Fresh Faced Beauty

This sweet, pulled back hairstyle is great for those hot, back to school days. A thick braid with lots of volume is a  super pretty hairstyle for girls with long hair.

How to Style:
  1. Prep hair with a light hold hair cream so strands will lay smooth and not fly away as you braid.
  2. Tease hair with a comb at the crown area to create volume before you begin braiding.
  3. Pull hair back loosely and start to create a French braid in the back of your head.
  4. Braid hair all the way down and secure with an elastic band.
  5. Gently pull the braid with your fingers to loosen it and make it appear thicker.
  6. Leave a few inches of hair out at the bottom so you can curl it with an iron to finish off the look. This last detail really elevates the entire hairstyle to another level!
Recommended Products:
Hydrating Styling Cream by Moroccan Oil. Rub a little bit on your hands and then pull through hair strands for a nice sleek look. Works great before braiding.
Best Face Shape and Hair Type:
All face shapes and hair types can pull off this look, you just need really long hair.

Platinum Princess

hair design for school and summer 2016

This adorable lob is the perfect back to school haircut! This thick and full hairstyle is cut a few inches past the chin and is colored with an edgy violet hue. Even if you choose to go with a safer, more natural color choice, this haircut is so on trend right now and will be a true head-turner on campus.

How to Style:
  1. Create a deep side part and comb bangs forward and to the side. Create the part and arrange the hair while it’s wet so it can dry in the direction you want.
  2. Blow dry hair to smooth it out or allow it to air dry on its own.
  3. When hair is 100% dry, go in with a medium barrel curling iron and add some curl to your strands.
  4. Use the same curling iron to smooth out your bangs and flip them up and away from the face.
  5. Spray your entire head of hair with a light hold hairspray, then use your fingers to lightly break up the curls and turn them into loose waves.
Recommended Products:
Superfine Hairspray by Oribe is absolutely fabulous! It works on all hair types and will become your new favorite product as soon as you use it.
Best Face Shape and Hair Type:
This adorable mid-length hairstyle helps flatter all face shapes. Medium thickness with straight to wavy textures are ideal for this cut, though girls with thicker or curlier hair that are willing to spend a little extra effort can rock it too.
Tip:
Invest in a good curling iron to get the results you are looking for. Ceramic barrels with temperature control are key factors to look for in choosing a good hot tool.

BRAIDED BANGS

This cute and easy trick can be done on any hair type or length. It’s great to get bangs up and out of your face, too. Whether you wear your hair straight or curly, this is the perfect style to keep your hair out of your face for study hall while still looking absolutely adorable!
Long Blonde Style with Front Braid

How To Style:
1. Style your hair as usual – curly if you want it curled or straight if you want it straight.
2. Section out a front headband shaped piece of hair, start French braiding at one end and then finish off at the opposite ear.
3. Secure with bobby pins.
Recommended Products: You don’t absolutely need to, but sometimes it’s nice to spritz your braid with a little hold to keep any flyaways from forming. Try Super Clean Light Hold Finishing Spray by Paul Mitchell for a hairspray that won’t weigh you down.
Best Face Shapes and Hair Type: All face shapes, hair thicknesses and textures can wear this adorable braid – that’s what makes it so fabulous!
Tips: After braiding and securing, pull the rest of your hair up into a ponytail for a totally different look. Having your hair all up is great for school sports and the braid keeps you looking fashion forward.

TOO HOT TO HANDLE

This fire-engine red, super hot shag cut is perfect for back to school! The rich red with subtle low-lighting in the back is a fabulous fall color while the shaggy layers are flirty and edgy. Side swept bangs keep it from looking too harsh.

1. Blow dry hair from roots to ends, using fingers if your hair is naturally straight, or a paddle brush if you need help smoothing.
2. Use your flat iron to touch up any pieces that need it once hair is completely dry.
3. Use pomade instead of hairspray to finish the look to help the pieces stand out better.
Best Hair Product:
Give Blow Mane Tame Soft Pomade a try for styling and definition.
Best Face Shape and Hair Type:
Oval, heart, round, square and long face shapes can wear this style. For really shaggy cuts, you’ll want a decent amount of density to your hair.
Tip: Maintain the quality of your color by not exposing your hair to too much sunlight or harsh chemicals. Use color-friendly shampoos, conditioners and styling products.

RUFFLED PIXIE

Short pixie cuts are still on trend. Rock one into the school year by keeping it fringy in the front with lots of texture throughout. Keep the perimeter of the haircut soft to keep the look feminine.
